Giuseppe
Palmas was born to Marcello and Elvira Ruffilli in Cesena, Italy on
January 6, 1918. In spite of a difficult childhood - his father died very
early on - he attended school and went on to get a degree in elementary
school education. He then attended the foreign language department of the
University of Venice. While he passed his first exams with flying colors,
the beginning of World War II forced him to quit his studies..
He married Alda Amadori on March 16, 1946 and they moved to Milan. He became head reporter and subsequently special correspondent for the Corriere Lombardo, a leading Milan newspaper. In 1949 his first daughter, Daniela, was born. A few years later he opened a press photography agency in Milan, but soon found that the most interesting subjects to photograph were in Rome; consequently in 1953 the family moved to the capital. Here he took over the journalism office of Marcello Maggiori. In May, 1956 his second child, Marco was born. Before returning to his home town of Cesena in 1964 the coupleĦs third and last child, Roberto, was born. In Cesena Palmas opened a photography studio in which he frequently set up painting exhibitions. Giuseppe Palmas died on July 22, 1977 after a long and painful illness. Please
