Che Guevara

Ernesto Rafael "Che" Guevara de la Serna (14 June 1928, Rosario, Argentina - 9 October 1967, La Higuera, Bolivia) was a Marxist Revolutionary, Politician, Author, Philosopher, Physician, Military Theorist, Guerrilla Leader,... Hero, Comandante Amigo. Always an inspiration!

"Once more I was able to convince myself how criminal the capitalistic octopuses are. On a picture of our old and bewailed comrade Stalin, I swore not to rest before these capitalistic octopuses are destroyed." ~ Ernesto Guevara, Letter to his aunt Beatriz, 1953

"I am not a liberator. Liberators do not exist. The people liberate themselves." ~ Che, Mexico, 1958

"The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall." ~ Che

"If you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine." ~ Che

"I knew that the moment the great governing spirit strikes the blow to divide all humanity into just two opposing factions, I would be on the side of the common people." ~ Che

"We cannot be sure of having something to live for unless we are willing to die for it." ~ Che

"One has to grow hard but without ever losing tenderness." ~ Che

"When forces of oppression come to maintain themselves in power against established law, peace is considered already broken." ~ Che, Guerrilla Warfare (1960)

"The task of educating and feeding youngsters, the task of educating the army, the task of distributing the lands of the former absentee landlords to those who laboured every day upon that same land without receiving its benefits, are accomplishments of social medicine." ~ Che, On Revolutionary Medicine (1960)

"The desire to sacrifice an entire lifetime to the noblest of ideals serves no purpose if one works alone." ~ Che, On Revolutionary Medicine (1960)

"Everything we thought and felt in that past period ought to be deposited in an archive, and a new type of human being created." ~ Che, On Revolutionary Medicine (1960)

"Far more important than a good remuneration is the pride of serving one's neighbor." ~ Che, On Revolutionary Medicine (1960)

"The merit of Marx is that he suddenly produces a qualitative change in the history of social thought. He interprets history, understands its dynamic, predicts the future, but in addition to predicting it, he expresses a revolutionary concept: the world must not only be interpreted, it must be transformed." ~ Che, Notes on the Cuban Revolution (1960)

"The victory of the Cuban Revolution will be a tangible demonstration before all the Americas that peoples are capable of rising up, that they can rise up by themselves right under the very fangs of the monster." ~ Che, Mobilising for Invasion (1961)

"The subjective conditions in each country, the factors of revolutionary consciousness, organization and leadership, can accelerate or delay revolution, depending on the state of their development. Sooner or later in each historic epoch objective conditions ripen, consciousness is acquired, organization is achieved, leadership arises, and revolution takes place." ~ Che, Guerrilla Warfare: A Method, September, 1963

"I knew you were going to shoot me; I should never have been taken alive. Tell Fidel that this failure does not mean the end of the revolution, that it will triumph elsewhere. Tell Aleida to forget this, remarry and be happy, and keep the children studying. Ask the soldiers to aim well." ~ Comandante Amigo Ernesto "Che" Guevara, La Higuera, 9 October 1967
