L'AUTORE

Born in 1956 in Athens (Kalamaki).
After graduation from the Kalamaki high school in 1974, he leaves for the United States to study Computer Science.
He receives a Masters in Computer Science and an MBA.
During his MBA studies and in order to avoid the stagnant (but promising and profitable) MBA pseudo-reality, he almost completes his Graduate degree in Art History.

He moves to Washington, DC to work as a Computer Systems Consultant and it is during this period that he, after a fortuitous insistence by his then girlfriend and now wife, Charity, discovers the camera and manages in a short time to funnel his creative angst onto the photographic negative.

He freelances as a photographer for the magazine “The Washingtonian”.
His art photos are shown in Washington, DC-area and in Rome galleries in solo and groups shows.
His work is mostly influenced by the negative reality of the French Symbolists of the 1800’s and the metaphysical, ironic dreams of their adapted heirs, the Surrealists.
His work on the metaphysical cities is an on- going research inspired by the paintings of the great metaphysical painter DeChirico and books by Italo Calvino, the Italian author.

The arrival of the digital photography gives him yet another reason to reject the visual reality and gives him the means to re-construct his inner visions, thoughts and symbols via the virtual reality offered in the binary world of pixels.
His introduction to the Italian Photography was via the CF L’Immagine of Rome in 1998.
A member fo the club since then, he has participated in many of the initiatives of L’Immagine.
