Space
Treat is my first
homebrew Atari 2600 game,
originally released at
the Classic Gaming Expo
2002. You can order it in its
new and improved "Deluxe"
incarnation from AtariAge.
Use z26 or CyberStella
emulators to play the
rom image.
Frankenstein's
Monster NTSC->PAL conversion and
Bugfix
I quite like this game,
but playing it on a PAL
machine is pretty hard
since it used to render
an incorrect number of
scanlines in the NTSC
version, which is now
fixed. The .zip file
contains several
binaries for NTSC Fixed/PAL50/PAL60.
This is the first
conversion of a
bankswitched game I've
done all by myself :)
Once again, besides the
NTSC to PAL conversion,
I've included several
other options:
·Static and Solid
playfield modes
·No disturbing color
cycling/flashing
The .zip file contains
several versions of the
PAL and NTSC compiles
with the above changes.
This is a joint effort
of Manuel Polik and
myself. We started with
the idea of another
NTSC->PAL conversion
but finished with
evolving/improving
several aspects of the
game:
·Linecount bugfix
·Intro logo bugfix
·Intro glitch bugfix
·Boring color cycling switched off
·Improved logo graphics
The .zip file contains
several versions of the
PAL and NTSC compiles
with the above changes.
The game has now
(mostly) correct
colors on PAL Atari
2600's. The framerate is
left untouched (60hz).
This preserves the
original speed but could
be incompatible with
some older PAL tv sets.
Here I also had to correct the
number of scanlines since it was
originally rendering a wrong amount which
prevented it to display correct colors on
an actual PAL 2600.

BetterBlast is a Hack of
Astro Blast (NTSC) that keeps
the background screen
black through all the
game, instead of
changing to some
psychedelic colors.
Should save some
retinas.
