The Author

In his adulthood, Vito Verni rediscovers the pleasure of smooth water-colouring in the subjects he has a deep feeling for; (flowers, still life, undergrowth) and tenderly dreams of a second youth.

His happily

spontaneous painting is characterised by a clear-cut naturalistic synthesis, since he always has in front of what is real and in front of the subject, an immediate and precise understanding of what is essential and of the right shade; consequently all his works tend to represent an effective, figurative transposition without ever trying to forge it.

Vito Verni's small paintings, (many of which are authentically fine), have luxurious colours: the backgrounds, almost always white, let the brightest colours of the soul spread over the eyes.

His painting is characterised by skilful strokes and accuracy, moreover sensitivity and good taste brighten up in the watercolours the precise and deep features of the subject (with no shades).

Following the thick path of the drawing, the colour enhances the physical relief of the details, thus gradually discovering the placed qualities, which otherwise would be unnoticed if only superficially described.

The detailed clarity Vito Verni uses in order to carry out the realistic analysis of each element, leads back to a mental composition which requires that all shades and all full colours be used.

In the few winter months he spent in Poland, being feverishly, constantly and joyfully inspired, he looked for the brightest, most italic and clearest contrasting colours, he looked for the best part of a reward, even a scrupulously achieved consolation toward his own inspiration.

The observation is possible thanks to a genuine interpretation of the stimuli from the real (the Polish countryside, the undergrowth) transformed by colour suggestions: through the tone mixtures and the iride

scent regularity of the light, the nude phrasing of the outlines widens out into more expanded sensational spaces.

Such real and imagery-tending light triggers off in harmony between the outside and the painter's intuitions) that mechanism from deep inside, thus determining a warm involvement of all things.

Fashions become outdated and after all XX-th century tasted, we see that Vito Verni is highly esteemed artist who has a firm hand, unquestionable, tending to new forms of naturalism.

His pure innocent look runs with the colours along the valley of his own childhood

I have always been a close friend of Vito Verni (Elvi) and my interest in his latest paintings might look like a merely promotional operation, or even worse, servility but for the true amazement aroused in everyone for these watercolour paintings which have a particular, exclusive style, both for flowers, landscapes and abstract works.

A colourful wonderland lies before us, leaving an independent space for freedom and fantasy. That space is the most precious gift that Vito Verni gives us, since here we can find the strength to get of the dullness of "normality" so as to savour the light over the sea or in a wood, the strawberries, the cherries, the raspberries whose colours and taste we have lost and pick up the flowers whose charming qualities we have long forgotten.

Vito Verni is a real artist who takes us by the ha

nd and leads us into the enchanted land of his (our childhood). He longs to achieve some dreams in a world that no longer dreams.
