 Notice of Race

1. Organisation: The Organising Committee is consists of members of the Compagnia della Vela di Venezia and of the Diporto Velico Veneziano, the two major clubs of the City, and by members of other Clubs of the region. The event is organised according to rule 88.1 (e).

2. Event: XIX Trofeo "Marco Rizzotti" - 8° Venice Optimist Europe Cup - 10° Trofeo Castorama

3. Admission : By invitation only. The organising Committee is free to invite teams from different nations or national regions, each one consisting of 5 boats ( 4 racing plus 1 reserve ). The local team and the team that was the winner in 2004 shall have the right to participate.

4. Date and venue of the races: The races will be sailed in Venice, on the sea in front of the Camping Marina di Venezia at Punta Sabbioni on May 6th –7th and 8th 2005. Participants shall be at disposal of the Race Committee latest by 7 p.m. on May 5th 2005, for the skippers briefing.

5. Rules: The races will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, including Appendix D, by the Class Rules as modified by the Notice of Race and by the Sailing Instructions and by the official Notices of the Race Committee, of the Chief umpire and of the Jury. The matches shall be umpired directly in accordance to RRS D 2, as altered by the Italian Sailing Federation. There shall be no protests other than those which are contemplated by the rules on umpired races.

6. Category of the event: Category A, as per Regulation 20 of the ISAF Advertising Code.

7. Membership requirements: All participants shall comply with the regulations of the respective Federation, and shall be members in good standing of the class association.

8. Entries: Entries shall be submitted to the Secretary of the Event not later than April 10th 2005, accompanied by the registration fee of EURO 100,00 per team.

9. Program of the event: In principle the event will consist of a full Round Robin, Semi-finals and Finals, and will take place on May 6th, 7th and 8th. The attention signal of the first race shall be at 11 a.m. on May 6h 2005.

10. Awarding of the trophy and of the Prizes: The XIX challenge Trophy "Marco Rizzotti" shall be awarded to the team which is best classified; the challenge Trophy shall be returned to the Organising Clubs not later than April 15th 2006, for it to be sailed again. The 8th Venice Optimist Europe Cup will be awarded to the team which is best classified among the national and foreign teams. The 10th Castorama Trophy will be awarded to the team which is best classified among the zonal Italian teams.

Permanent prizes shall be given to the first 3 teams classified, and all participants shall receive a small participation gift.

11. Scoring : As per the RRS D 3. The F.I.V. addendum to RRS D 3.1 shall apply ; a translation thereof in English shall be attached to the Sailing Instructions.

12. - Secretary’s office: During the event the Secretary’s Office shall be located inside the Camping Marina di Venezia. All necessary information regarding logistics, the parking space for boats and trailers, and how to reach the shore base shall be available upon arrival at the Secretary’s Office.

Useful information:

The bungalows of the Camping Marina di Venezia, where the sponsor Castorama will host the participating teams, are equipped with 6 beds, hot and cold shower and toilet, a small kitchen with a stove and a refrigerator and all appliances necessary for the pleasant stay. They also have a small living room and a little terrace. Inside the Camping Marina di Venezia there are shops, restaurants and pizza-houses. The Camping Marina di Venezia and the base for the event in Punta Sabbioni are approximately 40 minutes distance from central Venice: a public water-bus service runs from Punta Sabbioni to S.Mark’s square about every 20 minutes.
