In Pertengo, in the country around Vercelli,
Roses in Rice-field offers a rare example
of a garden with more than hundred variaties of climbing and brush roses, lavaterę,
osmanthi and other botanical curiosities at their maximum blossoming.
The whole thing began a few
years ago, when an old farm-house was initially restored; the rice-field in front of it and the old
yard, where originally, at the first autumn mists, the rice was laid
to dry, have been turned into a garden with multi-colored roses. Then,
step by step, a secret garden was born, then another one: new climbing
roses, other flowers, new colors.
