The intent of this section was to display a collection of strange but true facts. The problem I encountered is that 90% of the ones found on the internet are either Urban Legends or just completely made up (usually very funny). I have diveded them into five categories:

Facetious and abstemious contain all the vowels in the correct order, as does arsenious, meaning, "containing arsenic."

"I am." and "I do." are the shortest complete sentences in the English language.

A person from the country of Nauru is called a Nauruan; this is the only palindromic nationality.

Maine is the only state whose name is just one syllable.

The longest one-syllable word in the English language is "screeched."

No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver or purple.
Door hinge is the closest I've heard to orange (thank you Meo).

The sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." uses every letter of the alphabet!

"Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt".

There are only four words in the English language which end in "-dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous.

Taphephobia is the fear of being buried alive!

Clinophobia is the fear of beds!
or an aversion to going to bed. I'm typing this at 5am, I must be clinophobic!

The only 15 letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is "uncopyrightable"!
