MONTESSU HYPOGEIC NECROPOLIS – VILLAPERUCCIO

LOCATION: to reach Villaperuccio from cagliari, take National Route SS130in the direction of Iglesias. Leave this road at the junction with National Route SS293 just before Siliqua. Follow this road going south for about 30 km. Turn right at the crossroad to Villaperuccio. When you reach the town, take the road to Narcao; when you come to a sharp bend to the right after about 2 km, you will see the beginning of a road on your left (signposted). This road is paved for about 1 km and unpaved for another km and ends with a lay-by.

 

From there proceed on foot up the path with stone steps at the beginning that takes you to the rocky amphitheatre into wich the many chamber tombs (”domus de janas”) are cut.
