Scarabeus

Scarabeus is a no profit Cultural Association in Livorno (Tuscany- Italy) involved in projecting and in organizing educational activities and training  paths in favour of adult people and of disadvantaged social groups in a perspective of life long learning. The first area includes art, languages and multimedia courses aiming to help adult people in maintaining and updating theirs kills to play a permanent social active role. Guidance and orienteering activities are carried out to help young adults to clear and to pursuit their vocational project. The second area regards projecting and organizing vocational training paths, addressed to disadvantaged  groups and aiming their social re-enter. Scarabeus project expertise is based on two Comenius projects and in four Grundtvig ones. Two Grundtvig projects are in favour of social disadvantaged groups (“Right to learn”, “Women and Power”) and other two Grundtvig ones aiming to the training adults’ improvement (“Self-training and Open Distance Learning”, “A new concept of occupational training”). Municipality, schools and no profit associations are its partners in local projects in adult education field.

Collesalvetti Public Library

Collesalvetti Public Library was born in 1975. Library takes part to“ NetBooks” Project,  promoted by Tuscany Region and it provides to students and adults in the area with its services of newspapers library, video library and free inter-regional libraries  book loans. The Library houses art exhibitions and cultural meetings for adult people and for students, offering them public web access, laws database and Community information too. It is included in the Libraries Network of Livorno Province, playing a basic cultural role all over the area.

Applied Visual Arts Research Centre

Applied Visual Arts Research Centre works  in the field of the applied arts research, having a large expertise in making a wide range of materials with traditional and innovative techniques. Individual art  paths, from basic level to professional level, are promoted in a multifunctional  art  laboratory in the framework of  innovative courses for adult people. Art Centre methodology is carried out  in the courses for learners Centre joining theoretical  basic lessons, art techniques  practical learning and visits and excursions to museums and art  exhibitions in according with chosen art path. The Centre organizes and  houses art exhibitions using  modern multimedia technologies.

3. The Project

Title :”Art as a language to describe local environment features”

Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries are all Triangle adult users, coming from  every social and cultural group. The basic idea is to favour the art expression and its improvement with the wider range art techniques to be chosen by  participating adults.  Art theme is very popular and basic in the cultural background of our people area because the old painting and musical tradition created by all over the world famous local artists.

Other project objective is to awake the awardness that art is a language to tell  everything we see and feel.

In this case the local natural environment has been chosen to be focused on and told with painting, drawing, sculpture, photography,  and other art techniques. It could be an experience to know better nature, to see and  to listen to her and  to discover our relationship with her.

Other project objective is to improve the inside connection of  Triangle cultural centres carrying out together the project  and to favour exchange and each other knowledge among Triangle adults users.

Project phases

In the first phase teachers and experts will provide an introduction to the art techniques as well as required suggestions about  realisation of individual paths.

In the second operative phase the teachers and experts will play the animators and tutors role to help participating adults to carry out  their art path.

In the third phase the teachers and experts will  evaluate final art works and will care final exhibtion.
