THE
PIEVE
The “Pieve”
plays the role of the cathedral in small rural places. It has
control over a dozen of parishes. The largest pieve in eastern
Brianza was Missaglia. The first Christians who lived here built S. Giovanni
Battista Baptistry, about which we
only know it was near the Basilica. The parish of Missaglia was
“pieve” up to the beginning of
the 19th century.
