"...following a recent (summer 1998) trip to Sardinian coastal fisheries, a Rome-based marine environmental journalist, Eleonora de Sabata, contacted the seniour author and provided copies of a photograph showing a shark caught off the north coast of Sardinia, possibily in the mid to late '70s. (...) We confidently identified this to be a speciment of Carcarhinus obscurusm, representing a northerly range extention in Mediterranean waters"

"Acknowledgments - Egidio Trainito and other friends provided photographs and data about the stranded specimen. The marine environmental journalist Eleonora de Sabata informed us about the event.
