Shardna has chosen to guide its research activities on the basis of ethical principles that cannot be ignored: the population under examination must not only be informed but must also be in total agreement with the project. The company's approach has been rewarded by the voluntary participation of most of the local citizens.

Moreover the community have also invested local financial resources in the project, building laboratories and walk-in clinics. Thanks to this and to its innovative research approach, in a very short time Shardna has created a complex and comprehensive data base structure that collects data on the entire population that can be easily accessed for numerous types of analysis (data are obviously kept anonymous).
