Manifesto

Poster

For us the historical period in which we live will mark the passage from individualism to collectivism. The exaltation of the individual has produced "values" such as corruption, cunning, selfishness and the desire to subjugate.

The idea that the collectivity is more important than the individual is beginning to take place in our minds. The value of the individual is judged on the basis of what he gives to the community, not on what he takes. The individual dies but the community will continue as long as there are single members of it. It is the collectivity which preserves and hands on the traditions which can be described as the total of experiences in every field, gathered for the common good. This sum of traditions is being continually brought up to date, renewed, modified and enriched with objective values, with the personal contribution of each single member so that it never dies.

The artist who is interest only in showing how able is without helping others to understand and express themselves is of no use to the collectivity. He leaves others in ignorance allowing critics and dishonest dealers to exploit them.

The political structures themselves often influence the artistic development of so-called art forms, empty illustrations of rhetorical literary thought. In this case, too, it is a question of misunderstanding, imposition of ideas and exploitation of ignorance.

Today's artist or "cultural worker" can help the cultural growth of the mass. He can teach individuals, beginning with the young, to unmask the cunning rather than admire them or envy them, to defend themselves from exploitation, to express themselves with the maximum liberty of expression.

He can carry on the tradition instead of wearily repetaing it.
