N° OF ACTS: 2 acts and several (healthy) scenes
SETTING: A Venetian tavern, The Three Monkies, with a central dining area and two bed chambers, one to the right and one to the left
TIME: A depressing night with a strong, leaden south wind blowing, at the time of the most unbridled Carnival events in 1762
WRITTEN IN: 2000

SUMMARY:
Carlo Goldoni is leaving his native Venice because of unsurmountable difficulties with his direct competitor, the playwright Carlo Gozzi. Goldoni is obliged to spend the night before his departure at The Three Monkies tavern, where he rents a room, unaware that his mortal literary competitor has had to take refuge from the bad weather and is in the room next door. Ore Muncjela (Pot o' Gold), an actress from Dubrovnik, has also sought shelter at the tavern. She has come to Venice with three vital desires: to visit the grave of her fellow citizen, Marin Drzic the dramatist; to act for either Goldoni or Gozzi; and to sleep with Giacomo Casanova! On that fateful night, the curious and lively Ore makes her way several times between the two separate chambers and two diverse and distant lives and philosophies, but only manages to visit the grave and sleep with the two Carlos, without scoring with Casanova. Two completely different men awaken in the morning; finally they part under almost friendly circumstances, wistfully recalling a strange love, a school of life and a dream.

It is expected that the premiere of the radio play version will be broadcast on the Croatian Radio Drama Programme early in 2002.

THEME: The vital problems of di/vorced, de/serted women in their early forties
N° OF CHARACTERS: 6 or 9 (3 or 5 male and 3 or 4 female), and, as required and depending on the circumstances, a choir and a ballet
N° OF ACTS: 2 acts and several quick snapshots
SETTING: The centre of Zagreb City, the suburb of Dugave, and Sljeme Range and its mountain lodges
TIME: 1922, but 1993 would also be OK
WRITTEN IN: 1999

SUMMARY:
Mina Safranek - Tojaga is a deserted and divorced forty-year-old who is finding it hard to get over the collapse of her bad marriage, caused by the sudden departure of her husband Nemanja for his antive Krajina, now self-declared independent territory. Shi is particularly hurt that the official "divorce papers" have arrived by mail from Knin written in the Cyrillic script. She succumbs to a suicidally depressive state, but, with help of her friends Micika and Pave, besigns treatment with a successful older private psychiatrist, Dr Sebastijan Fulir. He recommends long walks in the Sljeme mountains. Because of her inexperience, she becomes victim of an alpine Don Juan, Mr Fus, and then meet Fran Covicko, a deserted and divorced scientist of her own age, who is originally from the romantic Croatian islands. All that is enough for a general happy end with the participation of Micika and Dr Fulir, along with Pave and the incorrigible conqueror of female hearts, Mr Fus. With all this, Mina heals her weak and harrowed nerves.

Author's note: The text was written as a film script commissioned for his late friend and neighbour Kreso Golik, and is a sequel of sorts to Golik's cult film He Who Sings Harbours No Evil Thoughts. Later, this theatre variant was implemented as an homage to Mr Golik. The text of Swan Song and the Call of the Black Grouse Cock is the second part of a three-part drama by T.M., Lower Triple Pussy, or Learning About Women. The author retains the right of first refusal as director.
