International Awards

The Childhood Voices
Will be given to the writer Richard Salem, president of the Conflict Management Initiatives (U.S.A.), Oganisation that works on the Mediation field encouraging the collaboratives process for the positive management of the community conflicts, as author of the book: Witness to genocide - The children of Rwanda -Drawings by child survivors of the Rwandan genocide of 1994.

The Listening
Will be given to Hillary Rodham Clinton: She wrote the preface of the book Witness to genocide - The children of Rwanda -Drawings by child survivors of the Rwandan genocide of 1994.
The U.S. First Lady has shown the capacity to listen and accept the moving voices of the tortured childhood. Every voice is lost without an echo!
The sensitivness of the mother, woman, leader has allowed the capacity to listen every voice.

The Pioneers
Will be given to John M. Haynes, Ph.D., and His wive Gretchen, as couple structured on the affections, on the mutual understanding, on the projects of diffusion of the practive of mediation around the world. John is been a pioneer of mediation, trainer of almost twenty thousand mediators and, among them, the students of school C.E.R.I.U.M., the first Sardinian School of Mediators, that John has cared of. CE.RI.UM. likes to dedicate, with affection and gratitude, these symbolic Awards to the sensitivness of those that demonstrated, among their works, a human and social dimension that pass over borders and that express the essence of the mediation process; to the efforts made to organize this moment of share, exchange and enrichment among the III WMF Congress; to John M. Haynes, that until december 22 1999, was the III WMF Congress Scientific Committee President. As President of the III W.M.F. Congress Scientific Commission He gave the organizational impression and he left the 'will' of intents to Dr. Savina Pinna (CE.RI.UM. President, Delegate by the W.M.F. Steering Committee for the organisation of the III Congress). He left us leaving a huge inheritance that belong to the world.

Special Awards

A particular award will be given to:
- Barbara Wood, the Irish Mediator that in 1993 had the idea, with her Irish collegues mediators, to establish the World Mediation Forum;
- Daniel Bustelo, first W.M.F. President from 1995 to 1998;
- Ana Maria Sanchez Duràn, W.M.F President from 1998 to year 2000.

A special thanks will Be addresed to:

John M. Haynes

John M.Haynes Ph.D. is known in Europe for his important contribute to Conflict Management and Mediation Techniques and for his numerous publications. His book, Fundamentals of Family Mediation, State University of New York Press, 1994, has been translated in five languages and eight different national editions. He has trained over 15.000 professionals in twenty different countries around the world.
Dr. Prof. Haynes was Founding President of the Academy of Family Mediators (1981-1985) and the first recipient of its Distinguished Contribution Award in 1989. He has received as a consultant to court system in Arizona, Deleware, Idaho, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, Quebec, Singapore, Norway and Great Britain.
Was President, Haynes Mediation Associates and the Mediation Training Istitute, a national mediation training program for attorneys and mental health professionals.
As President of the III W.M.F. Congress Scientific Commission He gave the organizational impression and he left the 'will' of intents to Dr. Pinna (CE.RI.UM. President, Delegate by the W.M.F. Steering Committee for the organisation of the III Congress); He died the 22 december 1999.
