"Cain's Garden" is a series which emerged from my observation and research on objects. In this study, I focussed my attention on "things" such as vegetables. Fruits and vegetables, considered as accessorial to our habits, instead reveal a life of their own, independent and unknown to us, their owners. Perhaps it is such ownership that turns them into a mirror of ourselves and our actions, in a transposition consumed on the kitchen table or in the darkness of a cupboard, while we are away. At the moment of home-coming, they suggest the essence of our logic and of our actions: unable in their simple pureness to do any harm, they imitate us with their shapes (and the unconscious recalls they evoke) and remind us that we are the ones who displayed them so.

The works are achieved through a photographic procedure aimed at exalting the granularity and making them similar to ancient pictures.

A video recording the works is inserted in the Axolotl, the archive of juvenile arts and cultures of Rome's Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art.

The original pictures are at disposal for exhibition and sale. The series is limited to 9 copies of each work.

“L’orto di Caino” è una serie che nasce dalla mia osservazione e ricerca sugli oggetti. In questo studio le “cose” su cui si è focalizzata la mia attenzione sono stati i vegetali. I frutti e le verdure che consideriamo accessori delle nostre abitudini hanno invece rivelato una vita propria, indipendente e sconosciuta a noi che li possediamo. E forse proprio questa appartenenza li rende specchio di noi stessi, delle nostre azioni, in una trasposizione che si consuma sul tavolo della cucina o nel buio di una dispensa, quando noi siamo usciti di casa. Al nostro ritorno essi ci suggeriscono l’essenza della nostra logica e del nostro agire: incapaci nella loro semplice purezza di fare del male, ci imitano con le loro forme (ed i richiami inconsci che essi suscitano) e ci ricordano che siamo stati noi ad averli disposti così. Le opere sono frutto di un procedimento fotografico volto ad esaltare una granulosità che le rende simili ad un dipinto antico.

Un video in cui sono riprodotte le opere è presente nel catalogo dell’ Axolotl, l’archivio delle arti e culture giovanili della Galleria Comunale di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Roma .

Le fotografie originali sono disponibili per l’esposizione e la vendita in serie limitata di 9 copie ciascuna.
