INEX SDA CZECH
INEX – association of voluntary activities – was established in 1991.
About 900 members are involved and it organises about 40 work-camps a
year.
In 1999 work-camps were divided into 4 programs:
-
“One to another” – social oriented camps
-
“Hands and history” – history, castles, archaeology
-
“Bridges to the nature”
-
“Meeting in the countryside and community support”
INEX-SDA would like to give all young people the opportunity to
discover their personality and develop their own values and opinions through
participation on work-camps and interaction with young people from different
cultures, countries and backgrounds. INEX-SDA wants to contribute to the above
mentioned aims by giving young people responsibility and the chance to lead
projects in the areas of volunteering, education and travel. Our current
activities are mainly in the field of summer work-camps. Every year more than
300 volunteers from abroad take part on work-camps throughout the Czech
Republic. There are about 100 active Czech volunteers also involved in these
projects. Our
work-camps focus mainly on environmental issues and the renovation of
historical parts of Czech towns. We think that a major purpose of work-camps in
the Czech Republic is to give young people from other countries a chance to
experience life in the Czech Republic in a way they would be unable to do as
regular tourists. That’s why we try to use leisure time in the work-camps for
excursions, trips, seminars and workshops presenting the local atmosphere and
way of living. INEX also places about 450 young Czech volunteers on work-camps
abroad, in Europe, Africa, America and Asia every year. From this group we
recruit volunteers to become active participants on INEX’s projects in the
Czech Republic.
Relations with other organizations and participation in international structures
INEX-SDA is a member of the Alliance
