SIW Internationale Vrijwilligersprojekten

 

SIW is a non-governmental, non-profit voluntary service organisation in the Netherlands, founded in 1953.

The objectives of SIW are:

-          stimulating the personal growth and development of young people,

-          encouraging international contacts and understanding,

-          doing social, cultural and environmental work

 

These objective are realised by the following activities:

-          sending young people (18-35 years old) from the Netherlands to projects in Europe, North America, Africa, Latin America and Asia,

-          welcoming young people from the above mentioned areas in international volunteer projects in the Netherlands,

-          the participation of SIW in international fora and the organisation of international seminars.

 

In the Netherlands SIW is one of the largest organisations running multilateral projects and sending volunteers abroad at this scale. The activities of SIW, which is based in Utrecht, are organised by volunteers. SIW employs one person for the administrative and financial work concerning the exchange and the Dutch projects.
