As IRCnet servers do not require any particular data correlation (eg. nickname same as userid), you can
get more anonymous and getting fun with idiot lamers by following these little advices:
- Don't use nicknames like Mark17 or Sara72 because in that way everyone knows
your name is Mark or Sara and that you have 17 or that you was born in 1972. Choose something
original, even chosen randomly stucking two different words together, such as LandPool, Watson,
Armring, ZeroBar.
- Consider an alternative nickname to use instead of the usual if that is already used by someone
on the same net (eg. ZeroBar = Z3roBar). Remember that anyone may take your nickname while you
are not connected, and that if your connection goes down and you reconnect quickly to IRC, your
nickname will last until server forces discconnection for "Ping timeout" or something like that.
- If you don't want to change your nickname much often (this could be useful if your IRC pals want
to find you on the net), consider using lamer-like writing for the nickname, eg. ZeroBar = Z3roB4r,
ThanatouA = Th4natou4, Megalith = M3g4l|th, and eventually with some pre/suffixes like plus (+) or
minus (-), brackets ([, {, (, ), }, ]), and so on (!, $, °, §, ~, ., etc.): Ceres+, Th[away],
Meçh, |Mess|, Me{ss}, F@deout, Ab$olute, etc. Don't exceed with these variants, or your nick will
too much difficult to write.
- Use mIRC's Ident server feature, and put as userid a strange word or otherwise the "clean" version
of your nick name (that is: M3g4l|th+ = megalith). Leave default "UNIX" as system. If you want you
can try using different OS identificatives, try them (eg. CPM, OS2, System 7, etc.). Enable it only
during connection, or some fucking lamer could try to flood you with lots IDENT requests.
- Don't use "mega" scripts like Pizza Script, Dynamirc, Venom Script, IRC Simpson and so on.
They could be harmful, they may contain backdoor and anyway they contain silly advertisement tags
that compromise your privacy and are really boring too. If you really like some features of these
scripts just import them on a script made and checked by you. This means that you should
learn at least the basics of mIRC scripting language!
- Use anonymous proxies, search for spoofable IP addresses, don't tell your e-mail address or
other personal data as any lamer could try to nuke you or use your e-mail address for spamming
or mail bombing intentions.
