Terry - Thomas and his "Motto"
During his first works experience, Thomas was emotionaly ill-treat
(at Smithfiled Market and The Dover Road).
The people around him used and frighten Thomas.
One day he decided to react at this situation.
"I Shall Not Be Cowed" has always been my Motto.
It appears today in the crest on my writing paper
and the titlepage of this book, with a cow rampant.
I won't be cowed professionally, emotionally, in any way, by anyone.
" I am anti-bull....
Against false pretension, bull in the army,
artistically, socially, in every way."

Thomas realize himself one draw
(a cow with a cigarette holder and a red carnation)
and his motto inside one ring.
The famous Terry-Thomas used his Motto on his notebook,
visiting card, paper ecc..
Durante le sue prime esperienze lavorative,
il giovane Thomas fu più volte maltrattato da registi
e da vari personaggi dell'alta società.
Le persone che incontrò,
spesso lo fecero sentire intimidito..usato..umiliato.
Impose a se stesso di reagire a tutto questo e
creò un Motto "I Shall Not Be Cowed" (io non sarò usato).
Realizzò un disegno raffigurante una mucca rampante con bocchino ed
un garofano rosso tenuto dalla coda e
lo fece incidere su un anello che portò sempre con se
al mignolo della mano sinistra.
Questo punto di forza, lo aiutò psicologicamente ad acquistare sicurezza.
Divenuto famoso, riportò questo "marchio"
sulla carta da lettera, sui biglietti da visita, sui libri,
sui block notes ecc..
