FAQ

I have a Powerbook G3. Can I use patched Apple DVD Player 2.x?

Only Powerbook G3 Pismo (with FireWire) has an ATI Rage 128 chipset that is required from Apple DVD player to work.

Where can i find Apple DVD Player 2.7?

Apple DVD Player 2.7 US is available for download from Apple web site. It works also with non-US systems.

I can't install Apple DVD Player 2.x on my Mac

Apple DVD Player 2.x Installer check your machine ID to understand if your Mac has DVD capabilities. Only suported Mac can install Apple DVD Player (ADP) using Appler DVD Player 2.x Installer.
Installing ADP on unsupported machines requires to extract files using Tome Viewer and then install manually into correct folder.

ADP Manual Installation

  • Create My Apple DVD folder on your hard disk
  • Mount ADP Image
  • Search for DVD Software Tome inside ADP Disk Image
  • Open DVD Software Tome with Tome Viewer
  • Extract files to My Apple DVD folder
  • Move following files to specified folder:
    • DVD Runtime Lib -> Extensions folder
    • DVD AutoLuncher -> Extensions folder
    • DVD Navigation Manager ATI -> Extensions folder
    • DVD Navigation Manager NV -> Extensions folder
    • DVD Region Manager -> Extensions folder
    • DVD Video Interface -> Extensions folder

I get "Apple DVD cannot find software it needs" error using Apple DVD Player 2.x

Usually this error occurs when ATI video drivers are not found or are too old. Try to upgrade them to a newer version.
Apple DVD Player requires an ATI rage 128 or better to work.

I get "The application Apple DVD Player could not be opened because DVD Runtime Lib--Getbounds__7CGWorldFv could not be found" error using Apple DVD Player 2.x

Usually this error occurs when you installed different version of DVD runtime lib and Apple DVD player. I suggest you to trash DVD files in Extensions folder and install Apple DVD Player again.
Files to be trashed in Extensions folder are:

  • DVD Runtime Lib
  • DVD AutoLuncher
  • DVD Navigation Manager ATI
  • DVD Navigation Manager NV
  • DVD Region Manager
  • DVD Video Interface

I can mount DVD on my Desktop, but I get "Apple DVD Player cannot open because the apple cd/dvd extension is not installed or the dvd-rom module could not be found" using Apple DVD Player 2.x

Try to replace Apple CD/DVD driver with CD/DVD drivers from Inetch. A demo version of Intech drivers is avilable online

MacOS X 10.2 Jaguar Installer didn't install Apple DVD Player 3.1.x even if I have a DVD-ROM.

Even if Apple DVD Player 3.1.x (ADP) has no machine check, MacOS 10.2 Jaguar Installer check for your machine ID, and if your Mac has no DVD native support will not install ADP.
BTW you can install it manually using Pacifist:

  • Run the "Pacifist" application and open Mac OS X (10.2 JAGUAR) Install Disc 1/System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg
  • Expand the Package Contens and Click on DVD Player.app. Click on Install to install it
