As I previously did for pipes belonging to the collaboration between Dunhill and Namiki, this page is intended as an exhibit of some over-sized pipes belonging to the fascinating Dunhill’s ODA group. This is not intended to be a catalogue of such pipes as my goal is simply to offer enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity and pleasure of viewing some of these treasures.
Undoubtedly I will be amply rewarded if you gain enjoyment in this exhibition. I chose to limit the display to ODAs manufactured between 1950 and 1975 because my interest as a Dunhill collector is centered on these years. This is not intended in any way to impugn Dunhills manufactured in other periods.  My preference for this period is twofold. First, it’s based on the invaluable work of Mr. Harry Saigrott, whose skill with the tapered mouthpieces during this period is unparalleled in terms of quality and excellence.
Second, and on a more personal level, this
period happens to coincide with my most
important years as a man, as a father,
and as an insurance professional.
As a smoker, I prefer the modestly
sized Group 4 pipes because they
are more comfortable, however,
as a collector, I surely did not
ignore the other sizes, as
this page affirms.
At this time, these ODA
pipes, most of which
are mine, are not for sale.
I initially owned some that
now belong to friends who
kindly lent them to me for
this exhibit.

A few others have no anterior
history with me. But, you ODA
aficionados, do not despair.
Just because these pipes are not
for sale today, does not mean
that they won’t be for sale at
a future date particularly if my
smoker side prevails over the
collector in me! The notes on
each pipe are limited to the bare
essentials, the nomenclatures.
The historical aspects and
details have been ignored
as my American friends
Rich Esserman, Ed Lehman
and John Loring have already
addressed them with much
competence, certainly better
than anything I could attempt.
In closing, I’d like to thank
my dear friend John Fleming
in far-off New York City for
his assistance in editing the
English text of this page as
well as some of the more
recent Issues of
pipes offered
at my site.

His suggestions
as an expert pipe
smoker, his taste
as an experienced
collector, and mostly
his advices as a true
friend are always
very useful to me.
