EAST
MALAYSIA EXPERIENCE 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS
DAY
01 KUCHING
Arrive
Kuching in the morning. Meet and transfer to the hotel. In the
afternoon, proceed on a city tour which will take you to places of
interest such as Tua Pek Kong Temple(the oldest Chinese Temple in
Kuching), the old Gambier spice streets with their open market, the
Malay village and the Muslim mosque, the Kuching waterfront with a
recordered history of Sarawak and the Sarawak Museum(known to be the
best museum in South East Asia). Overnight.
DAY
02 KUCHING – LONGHOUSE ADVENTURE
After
breakfast you will travel 232 km by car, with a few stops along the
way: the first at Serian town, where we will stop for refreshment. You
may wish to make some last minute shopping, for insect repellent or
for gift for the Iban at Serian. You can also visit a faschinating
native fruit and vegetable market. The other stops include a visit to
the pepper farm and a stop at a place where you can observe plenty of
wild orchids and also pitcher plants, insect eating plants. The last
stop will be at “Lanchau” a small up country Chinese Village,
where we will provide the lunch. Here you can still observe barter
trading being held between the natives of Kalimantan, the Chinese shop
owners and the natives of Sarawak. After lunch we proceed to the
final stage of the journey, an arrive at Lemanak or Skrang
river. Here you will board native longboats, and travel by boat (45
min.) further up the beautiful river to arrive at Iban Longhouse. Upon
arrival you will be welcomed by the natives of the Iban tribe to the
longhouse.
You will be able to experience the natives daily activities.
The dinner will be provide by your guide which will surprise you with
delicious dishes. After dinner the Iban woman will display their
handicrafts for sale. As a tourist, you do not have to feel obliged to
buy. During the evening the Iban will perform war dances and will ask
you to join them to dance and test their rice wine. Don’t be shy to
join them for dances and drinks, can be fun. After the enjoyment,
return to the guesthouse. Overnight at the guesthouse or Iban
Longhouse. (Consisting of individual beds in a dormitory setting, each
bed has a mosquito net. There are proper shower and toilet facilities.)

DAY
03 – LONGHOUSE – KUCHING
Breakfast
at the guest house. Witness the pastime games of the Iban tribe and
the demonstration on how to use the blow-pipe for hunting and (
subject to availability) cock fighting. Go on a nature walk and see
how important the jungle is to the natives. Return to Kuching.
Overnight at the hotel.(Breakfast & lunch)
DAY
04 – KUCHING – MIRI - MULU
Breakfast
at the hotel. Departure to Mulu via Miri by early morning flight. Upon
arrival, proceed to Mulu National Park which is famous for the largest
cave passage in the world and a heaven for naturalist. Mulu park has
1500 species of flowering plants, 170 species of wild orchid and 67
species of animals, but sighting of these animals are not guaranteed.
After lunch, which will be provided at park canteen, departure for
Lang’s cave and Deer caves. Walk on a raised platform through a peat
swamp forest . Next stop is at the Garden of Eden. In the evening if
the weather permits, it will be possible to
watch a strange phenomenon at the mouth of the cave. Overnight
Mulu hotel.(Breakfast, lunch & dinner)
DAY
05 MULU – MIRI – KOTA KINABALU
Breakfast
at the hotel. The day begin with a new exploration of Mulu caves and
by boat to Clearwater cave. It is possible to swim at Clearwater
spring, where a picnic lunch will be provided.
After lunch a new exploration will be done to the Cave of the
Wind and a visit to a Penan tribe longhouse at Batu Bungan. Return to
Mulu and proceed to the airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu. Upon
arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight. (Breakfast & lunch)
DAY
06 – KOTA KINABALU NATIONAL PARK & PORING HOT SPRINGS
Breakfast
at the hotel. At 0700 hrs, depart from
the hotel for a two and half hours drive to the Poring Hot
Spring. Upon arrival, proceed to the Canopy plank walk via nature
trails to observe the wildlife in the Canopy. Pack lunch will be
served at Poring. After lunch, continue journey to the Kinabalu Park.
At the park visit the Mountain Garden to see some of the park’s
native plants. After the tour, return to Kota Kinabalu and to the
hotel. Overnight.(Breakfast & lunch)
DAY
07 – KOTA KINABALU ISLAND DAY TOUR
Breakfast
in hotel. At 0900 hrs, meet our guide and transfer to the jetty for
boat ride to one of island of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park.
Upon arrival, bask in the sun on the clear white sandy beaches,
swim and snorkel or explore the trails on the islands. Packed lunch
will be provided and late afternoon transfer back to mainland.

DAY
08 – KOTA KINABALU – AIRPORT
After
breakfast, Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.(Breakfast)
(optional, depends of flight
schedule) proceed on the city tour. Some interesting places to visit
are the highest point for a panoramic view of the Mount Kinabalu, an
exclusive residential area, Likas Bay, the exterior of the Sabah
Foundation Building, a Buddhist Temple, the State Museum, the State
Mosque and the water village.
