What is it ?

  
 


Me.Ri.Quota is a small utility to check folders usage.

It allows to set the maximum quota of a folder and to perform the relative check either manually or automatically.

  
     
     
   
     

 

     
 

Setup:

  
 


Just copy the file MeRiQuota.exe to the folder you like.

Then you have to choose a language file, copy it to the same folder and rename it to "MeRiQuota.LNG". The default language is English.
Language files are all named MeRiQuota with an extension that is the abbreviated language name.
For example: "MeRiQuota.ITA" is the italian version.
 

  
     

 

     
   
     
     
 

How to use:

  
 


Add folders to the list and set the quota.

To change the quota right click on the folder path or press the menu key on extended keyboards.
Press enter or click out of the edit box to save the changes.
Press esc to cancel editing.

To open the folder double click on its path or press enter, so that you can manage your files.
You can stop the check at any time just pressing esc or pushing the exit button.

The program automatically saves its position and size, when closed, and restores them when it starts.

Sound

You can set the program to play a specified wave file whenever it finds a folder over the quota or just one time. Special settings can be specified to play sounds associated to system events. These are:

  • Deafault

  • SystemAsterisk

  • SystemExclamation

  • SystemHand

  • SystemQuestion

  • SystemExit

  • SystemStart

  • RingIn

  • RingOut

  • MailBeep

  • AppGPFault

Popup

You can tell the program to be always visibile when it finds some folders over the quota. This is the default setting.

Run

You can also run an external program or open a document, the same way as playing a sound.
Be aware that the external program is always passed the folder over the quota, the quota and the actual disk space as command line parameters. Many programs will ignore this, but many others will not.
To avoid this, you can write a small batch file with a single line containing the external program path and set this batch file as the external program.
Leaving this blank will just open the folder.

Dump

You can have a complete dumping of the result after the check to a specified file.
In the file you will find a row for every folder with the path, the quota, the actual disk usage and the current state (UNKNOWN, OK, OVER_QUOTA).

  
     

 

     
 

Command line parameters:

  
 


-a        Auto mode

Runs the program minimized and starts the check. If it finds a folder which occupies more space than allowed it pops up and beep, overriding options, else it silently quits.

-txx     Timer mode

Runs the program using timer functions. It starts the check after xx minutes and then repeats the check every xx minutes. If the program finds a folder which occupies more space than allowed it behaves according to options.
The default value for xx is set to 10.

Command line parameters can be used together, in which case the program doesn't terminate automatically when no folder is over the quota.
