Società Generale di Ingegneria (SGI) is an independent engineering company with a history of operation dating from 1920. Based in Padua and Milan, Italy, it employs approximately 50 staff. SGI is experienced in the management of water resources using state-of-the-art technology based upon GIS, hydraulic models, monitoring, telemetry and remote sensing. SGI projects include the development of river catchment plans in the Northern Adriatic region and the Po valley, clean-up strategies for the Venice lagoon, Lake Garda and the Lakes of Mantua, real time monitoring and model-based control of sewer systems (Genoa, Nova Gorica Thessaloniki, etc.). Furthermore the company is currently undertaking major hydraulic projects in Greece, Slovene and Mexico. In recent years SGI has acquired international experience by participating in environmental projects sponsored by the EU. Among these projects are the SPRINT SP226 "RTC in Urban Drainage and Sewage Systems", the Innovation "Integrated Wastewater" project, the "Life-Law" Project, the CAMWAN Project Proposal (ESPRIT Programme). SGI will be the Project Co-ordinator and will act as the engineering consultant (technology user) to the Autorità di Bacino dell'Alto Adriatico and MA-SIAR.
