"A
River, a town" is a concrete example of distant collaboration among
European schools using new technologies. Each
of the five schools is to be found on a river that has influenced their
history over time. During the three-year project the schools will research
on different subjects such as History, Geography, Flora, Fauna and all
that could be related to the fourd towns and rivers.
The five schools are the following:
1. I.T.C.G.
"I. Salviani" of Perugia, Italy;
2. I.E.S. "Condesa Eylo Alfonso" of Valladolid (Spain)
3. "Konintlyh Atheneum" of Oudenaarde (Belgium)
4. "Usselcollege" of Capelle aan den Ussel (Holland)
5. Liceul Teoretic "Onisifor Ghibu" of Sibiu (Romania)
Schools
communicate , in English and French, through e-mail and also through the
dynamic tools available on a 3D virtual world, Fantasia, on Eduverse.
In using these new technologies some difficulties have arisen, both within
the school - in trying to motivate other teachers - and among other partners,
in convincing them to step into this new form of interaction and of the
necessity of personal involvement - time allocation - in order to achieve
results.
The
exchange has been a good opportunity to evaluate the competences of different
schools belonging to different countries.
