The DownTownBlues started in 1998 as a minor project of a group of 4 musicians living in the north of Italy, becoming primary in a short, thanks to the performance and support of the fans. The positive clou of the DownTownBlues is a genuine spirit and sincere wish to propose a music which surmounts every trend and permitting to transmit sensations and establishing the warmth of Blues in the deepest and most of the heart. Inspired by the more classical artists, such as B.B.King, Muddy Waters, Albert King, up to the more modern contemporaries, such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robben Ford, the italian quartet consisting of Mario Percudani (Vocals and Guitar) , Paolo Guasconi (Keyboards) , Lele Meola (Bass Guitar) and Raffaele Guasconi (Drums) tries in each concert to follow the history of surely the most fascinating and complex sounds of the XX Century, the music of those who have experienced trials and difficulties accompanied by enthusiasm, desperation and real joy, the music which - more than any other - was loved, danced, enhanced, often strummed, but also confused and misunderstood. The DownTownBlues project was developed on these ingredients, moving the first steps slowly and on tip toes, without the conceit of proposing something which is Black Music's patrimony, but with the demands and imposes for the refined musicians and which simultaneously inherits the power to entrain even the less inclined audience with its rhythms and pathos. Consequently the repertoire has been made considering the aspects, ranging from songs such as the historic "Hoochie Coochie Man" to the acclaimed "Sweet Home Chicago", from the intriguing and gritty "I Just want to make love to you" up to the most recent "Pride and Joy" and "Parisienne Walkways". Everything is studied and arranged in their own original way, with modern sounds, by alternating a rhythmic section in the blues perfect style to the guitar and keyboards solos. Furthermore, the use of advanced instruments permits the DownTownBlues to perfectly adapt their style to the most different musical environment: from the small and warm clubs to the more important and committing pubs. In its mixture of past and present, classical and modern, you can find the heart of the DownTownBlues, who don't want to distinguish themselves by their technical value but wants to be remembered for their love for an infinitely great music. As Blues is alive, it is more than ever, a passion that expresses warmth, feeling, all you have to do is to close your eyes and let the rhythm guide you; then you'll realize that each and all of us - after all - keep a little bit of Blues in our heart….. |
