The
courtyard which the restaurant looks on to is a perfect natural open-air
stage setting, and it is not by chance that it is called "Corte del
teatro" and it was not by chance that on July 6th 1934, under the
direction of Gino Rocca, Carlo Goldonis "La bottega del caffè"
was performed here on the occasion of the first Prose festival of the
Venice Biennale. 60 years on, in the summer of 1994, the courtyard was
to host yet another of Mr.Stanziani brainwaves: in co-operation with the
"Teatro alla moda" association directed by Enrico Ricciardi
and promoted by him, the same "Bottega del caffè", was
performed to the great approval of both the critics and the public. Since
that happy beginning, every year the "Corte del teatro", has
presented a number of comedies. In 1996 and 1998 Goldonis "Sior
Todero Brontolon", followed by the successful "Serenissima"
by Giacinto Gallina and a comedy show "A gratis, a maca" by
the venetian Lino Toffolo-all critical successes met with standing ovations
by the public.
