Elba Island (Tuscan Archipelago)

Back to Italy
The Island of Elba is the biggest of the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, at less than 10 miles from the coast (Piombino Harbour). Historically Elba is known as the place of the first exile of Napoleone Bonaparte. Elba is one of the italian more frequented tourist centers and its enduring appeal comes from its exceptionally clear water and mountainous interior ideally suited to easy summer strolls.
How to get to Elba.
Piombino is the only point of embarkation to the island of Elba. From this harbour there are many daily ferries to Portoferraio (see Elba Link for time table, on line booking and other useful informations on Elba).
Diving at Elba.
Diving in the Elba's clear water means to have the possibility to observe and photograph almost all forms of life of the Mediterraneo Sea.
A very comprehensive description of the Elba's main scuba sites can be found in the booklet "Elba Scuba" (in English/German/Italian).
Informations (in German) and a collection of nice underwater pictures can be found in the Elba 2000 of Ewald Dotzauer.
