Arcipelago Toscano

Diving in the Islands of archipelago toscano.
The islands of the Tuscan archipelago are frequented by divers for the transparency of their waters and for the variety of their reefs. Even if the presence of fish is rather limited, the flora is very beautiful and varied: yellow and red gorgonian corals, very handsome paramuriceas, black and red corals, etc. There are also lobsters, attinias, spirographs etc. and also many interesting wrecks (ships, airplanes of the second world war, etc.). The best dive sites are in the island of Elba but also the Giglio, and Capraia Islands allows immersions of great interest. Gorgona and especially Pianosa are not accessible: Penal Colonies (the Penal Colony will remain in Pianosa until 30 june 1998, then what will be happen in the Island in still not clear). Montecristo is accessible only to research scientists whereas Giannutri is a private estate where visitors aren't allowed to spend the night. The water temperature requires a dry suit during winter, while in summer a 5 mm. wet suit with hood is adequate. The tuscan archipelago is now a marine park. For general informations about the park click here (sorry only in Italian).
