The starting point for the realization of this instrument is an illumination of a XIV century codex containing works of M.Severinus Boetius, among which the "De Musica ex Etymologiis S.Isidori" (Napoli, National Bibl. MS V.A.14, fol.47r).
This image shows King David playing a hog-nose psaltery.
 

I designed my hog-nose psaltery referring to the proportions related to the human body and choosing a suitable compass for medieval music.

Its features are:

• compass d-d3(re2-re5)22 diatonic notes
• 2 strings for note
• case: maple, oak or ash
• soundboard: red spruce
• strings: English brass
