di Damerini-Margaria (Garzanti): "I poliziotti Starsky e Hutch
potrebbero anche fare a meno delle sirene: le sgommate e i testacoda della
macchina rossa fiammante con la quale sono in servizio annunciano il loro
arrivo a quei criminali di Los Angeles contro i quali combattono giorno
dopo giorno. Audaci, allegri e acrobatici, i due protagonisti si
completano a vicenda: il riccioluto Dave Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) è
un uomo di azione istintivo ed impulsivo, Ken Hutchinson (David Soul)
detto "Hutch" è il biondo intuitivo che nella maggior parte dei
casi trova il bandolo della matassa. La coppia adotta un abbigliamento
casual anni '70; giubbotti di pelle, camicie fuori dai pantaloni a zampa
d'elefante, immancabili scarpe da ginnastica Adidas. Entrambi rispondono
agli ordini del burbero capitano Harold Dobey (Bernie Hamilton) che non
esita a difenderli quando diventa necessario. Nel corso delle indagini la
coppia di agenti fa visita al bar di Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas), il loro
dinoccolato e "fumato" informatore di colore. Grazie alle sue
"soffiate" Starsky e Hutch catturano una fauna variopinta e
stereotipata di malviventi: ladri d'auto che diventano assassini per caso,
rapinatori disperati, ricettatori di periferia, manager d'azienda che
smerciano droga in giacca e cravatta. Ma nel corso degli anni la coppia
incontra anche numerose guest-stars: Melanie Griffith, Jeff Goldblum,
Danny De Vito, Goldie Hawn, Ed Begley jr (A cuore aperto), Lynda Carter (Wonder
Woman), Joan Collins (Dynasty), Norma Fell (I Roper), Philip Michael
Thomas e Edward James Olmos (entrambi in Miami Vice), John Ritter e
Suzanne Somers (due dei Tre cuori in affitto). Aaron Spelling e Leonard
Goldberg sono i produttori esecutivi della serie, il creatore è William
Blinn, tutti e tre dovettero difendersi dalle accuse di alcune
associazioni di genitori e insegnanti per la violenza gratuita del serial
(e, in effetti, dalla terza stagione le storie appaiono più soft). Il
successo del telefilm è stato tuttavia interrotto allorquando Glaser
annunciò di voler "pattugliare" nuove strade artistiche.
Indimenticabile la sigla funky composta da Lalo Schifrin, in seguito
riarrangiata da Tom Scott e Mark Snow. David Soul si cimenta pure da
regista in qualche episodio. Per la cronaca la macchina che accompagna la
coppia nel corso delle avventure è una Ford Torino".
