Exclusive Interview

Mr Alexander (I simply love being formal), you're pretty young to have made such  pathways into cinema, television , theater and  the dubbing scene, so peculiar to Italy. There aren't many actors that specialize in as many disciplines. There will come a day,however, when one will prevail over the others. Which one is it going to be ?

Up to now it's just evolved that way. I have so much fun doing all these things and I've been able to choose the projects I liked the most, the most attractive, the most humerous, the most daring and, of course, the ones that paid the most !  While we're on the subject, the various activities you mentioned don't "impact" my yearly budget in an equal manner. They change from time to time and that's what I like about it. Today, as today, I don't have to noose myself to any particular entity.

There will come a day, of course, when I'll have to look at myself in the mirror while having my morning shave and say : "OK, do this and stick to it for 3 years!" It's an easy option which is difficult to say no to. But even in this case there are absolutely no definite "guarantees" - "prisons", especially in this field of work.

I don't know which is going to come out on top...... if you scent it out .. will do me a favour and let me know ?

Do you feign reality or do you live in pretence ?

I live in a reality that feigns pretence.
It's impossible, a foolish aspiration , to shake off  systems and socio-cultural archetypes that have existed since time began.
It's fantastic trying to strip oneself from certian customs, but before even fooling others we tend to lie to ourselves.
Am I being too cryptic ?

No, but let's get back to us: I'm the one asking the questions. Let's speak about Eric Alexander the director and author. After the successes of  “Why Caged Birds Sing” do you have anything in mind for the future ?

Lots of projects and ideas. I'm working on the story and full length screenplay for a comedy which revolves around the Milanese dubbing community,  then, in contrast  I'm working on another, putting a new light and hopefully avoiding "cliches", on the drama of the partisans in Italy at the end of the second world war. Finally, there's never two without three, a surreal short movie painting the  lives of personalities in the dubbing industry.  I don't have all  thatmuch time and so, with a few friends, I'm concentrating on looking for people to collaborate on the first project, which is the one I'm most attached to.

What sign are you ?
Born on the 28th of April. That puts me in Taurus in balance with Libbra.
Favourite colour ?
I'm a bit of a chameleon. It changes according to how I feel. Today it's green with white.
Measurements?
I thought that was a question you asked a girl up until recently !
You're forgetting emancipation, Mr Alexander .
I'm 1.84 tall, and when I buy my clothes in Europe I take a  50 jacket ,  48 trousers and 43 shoes. Is that enough ?
