Workshop in the Tuscan Countryside

The art and cuisine workshoptakes place inTuscany with its spectacular landscape of rolling hills and fertile land.
This splendid landscape has fascinated great artists and writers over the centuries. It has touched their imaginations and their creativity as they celebrated Tuscany's unique beauty through their work. Here in the historical Tuscany one finds not only the Etruscans, a civilization more ancient than Rome, but also the jewels of the Renaissance: Siena, Arezzo, Lucca, Pisa, and, the crown jewel, Florence.

In Tuscany, you will see some of the greatest artistic masterpieces in the world where they were born. And where the flavors and aromas of its cuisine can be traced back through the Renaissance to the Etruscans.

The historical influences of both art and cuisine are intertwined through the passions they produce. Taken together as a whole, one also experiences the art of Tuscany through its intoxicating wines, extraordinary cuisine, and surprising flavors and tastes, resulting in a most sensual combination of cooking, eating, and drinking and a marvelous harmony of art, of food, of ... life.

For all of these things together, there is this Workshop. A unique experience, which through the artistic intersection of drawing, painting, and cooking, makes it magically possible to instill the passions of art and cuisine . Each participant , working with their own hands ,can feel the fascination of nature, spirit, and materials.

Our Workshop is located in the heart of Tuscany, where the delights of art and cuisine combine with nature. At the workshop, you can will learn about the art and history of Tuscan cuisine as well as experience painting the Tuscan landscape "en plein air".

The cuisine part of the workshop teaches not only the correct preparation of Tuscan dishes, but also the history of the dishes explaining their origins and their importance in Tuscan culture. Tuscany's culinary history, although less well-known, is as unique and exciting as its art history. The cooking program illustrates the historical context of Tuscan cuisine and emphasizes the metamorphosis that takes place in the preparation of a meal with the transformation of basic raw materials into a communal gustatory experience.

The painting part of the workshop will concentrate on the creative use of color and different materials, (e.g., watercolor, tempera, pastels, ink, charcoal,etc.). All classes will be held out-of-doors, weather permitting.

Participants will stay in the countryside in a traditional Tuscan farmhouse . Excursions to typical Tuscan farms are included as well as guided trips to other famous historic cities, such as Siena and San Gimignano.
