Personaggi famosi

William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare, english poet and dramatist, was born to Stratford-on-Avon in 1564. He is loved from who appreciates the art which he traslates an event in theatrical terms, and from who admires the accuracy in the description of the mind states of the personalities and of their contradictions.                                                           The first published Shakespeare work was the mythological poem Venere and Adone in the 1593, dedicated to the earl of Southampton, in company of whom he has supposed that he performed a journey in Italy between 1592 and 1594. In 1594 Shakespeare took part to the company protected by the Lord Chamberlain, the Lord Chamberlain' S Men, as actor and author. In that same year he wrote the Tito Andronicous and the Taming of the shrew
tragedy.
Without doubt, Shakespeare used existence material when came back comfortable putting a show in scene in hurry, but that does not diminish sure his value, in fact, a simple history must be "moulded" to become
an art work.
Among his more important works there are: The merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet.

The Merchant of Venice

The merchant of Venice is characterized by different themes: the one of the caskets, the one of the friendship between the two young protagonists (Bassanio and Antonio) and the one of the pound of meat, which takes the comedy to a dramatic vein. In this work, Shakespeare, takes the ideas from various texts: for the pound of meat and the accident of the rings he was inspired by an Italian tale, while for the Shylock personality it went back to the Jew Of Malta of Marlowe. All these elements are however reelaborated by the dramatist in a completely original way and modified for the stage.

Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet, composed in 1595-96, is a drama about to two unlucky lovers who have as source an Italian tale, told both in prose and in versos. Shakespeare went back to the versos one, making the action much faster and giving a new appearance to the personality of the characters and to their internal contrasts. Romeo and Giuletta are the representatives of the young love: their first true love it is characterized by the very short time in which it is born and by the intensity which knows no limits (either the death will be able to divide them).

Hamlet

Hamlet, composed in 1600, he is the most popolar and discussed among Shakespeare tragedies. The story is based on a Scandinavian tale of the Amleth prince, whose pretended crazy to recapture the throne usurped by his uncle. In his work, Shakespeare, inserts new and tragic meaning, changing psychology and the personality of the characters and having them spoken in a poetic way. The ghost, that appears to Amleto in the first act, makes a big mistake imposing him to complete a task which in every case would not produce something good.
