Puncetto is a kind of needle lace which is done completely in hand creating series of different knots with the only help of the needle. Societā Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso di Varallo Sesia, in collaboration with Comunitā Montana Valsesia, offers Puncetto lace courses, at different levels, in automn and winter in the main Valsesia towns. You can learn the technique to make this lace, unique in Italy, as well project and design notions. It's then possible to show puncetto works to a special Committee and obtain, if the examination is positive, a certificate of genuine identification for it. Every year, in July, there a traditional exhibit (Alpāa) of Valsesia typical craftworks; in that occasion, an important Puncetto show takes place. In the town of Fobello there's also a Museum of Puncetto Valsesiano.
