Using Minimax
Use Minimax to change pixels to their minimum or maximum value within the range of the radius sliders, depending on the effect method you select. You can use this effect to expand or shrink bright areas of an image, with independent control over the horizontal and vertical intensity of the effect.
To apply a Minimax filter:
- Select the layer.
- Choose Operators | Channel | Minimax.
The Minimax Controls panel appears.
The Minimax Controls panel contains the following elements.
Horizontal Radius
Determines the horizontal distance from each pixel the effect takes into account.
Vertical Radius
Determines the vertical distance from each pixel the effect takes into account.
Method
Sets the type of effect applied to the pixels. The following Methods are available.

Minimum

Compare the value of pixels within the range of the radius sliders and set those pixels to the minimum value in the range. This has the effect of shrinking bright areas and expanding dark ones.

Maximum
|
Compare the value of pixels within the range of the radius sliders and set those pixels to the maximum value in the range. This has the effect of expanding bright areas and shrinking dark ones.

Min then Max
|
Apply a minimum operation within the specified radius then apply a maximum operation within the same radius in a second pass.

Max then Min
|
Apply a maximum operation within the specified radius then apply a minimum operation within the same radius in a second pass.
