Changing Animations On-the-Fly

Using multiple viewports, you can play back an animation in one viewport and make modifications to the animation in another. As you do this, you see the animation change in the viewport that is playing back.

To preview changes to an animation on-the-fly:
  1. For the sake of this example, create a simple animation. For instance, animate a layer with two keyframes moving across the viewport.
  2. Select the two-viewport layout.
  3. Note: You can also use any multi-viewport layout.

  4. Disable the Feedback button.
  5. Press to make sure you are in Loop Play mode.
  6. Press Home to move to the first frame of the animation, then press to begin playback.
  7. Click the other viewport to make it active.
  8. Use the scrub bar to move about halfway through the animation.
  9. In the Transform controls, adjust the layer's rotation by 360 degrees along any axis.
  10. The animation updates on-the-fly in the other viewport.
