Aligning Layers Along a Motion Path

Align a layer to its motion path so that it moves along the path like a train car on tracks. When a layer is aligned to its motion path, it rotates to maintain one of its axes parallel to the motion path, ignoring any rotation keyframes that might prevent it from following its course.

You can align the path to the layer's X-, Y-, or Z-axis.

To align a layer to its motion path:
  1. Select the layer.
  2. Click the X, Y, or Z Align button to the right of the Timeline.
  3. The layer rotates so that the selected axis is aligned to the motion path.

  4. Click the Invert button if you want the layer to face the opposite direction.
To remove motion path alignment:

Click the X, Y, or Z Align button to turn off motion path alignment.
