Working with Emitter Libraries
One of the library files included with combustion is named Default.elc. This Emitter Library for combustion (ELC) file is stored in the Particle Libraries folder in the combustion program folder. It contains samples of various emitters copied from the other included libraries.
All library files in the Particle Libraries folder appear in the Library menu, so you can load them easily.
When you exit combustion, the name of the current library is stored; this library is reloaded the next time you start the program.
In addition to the Default library, the following libraries are provided with combustion:
- Abstract
- Blank (only has one default emitter type)
- Explosions
- Fire
- Light Effects
- Miscellaneous
- Natural-Organic
- Smoke
- Sparkles
- Templates (starter emitters with basic pre-defined behaviors)
- Text Effects
About IEL Files
You can load an Illusion Emitter Library (IEL) file into the Particles operator; it is immediately converted to an ELC file. You cannot save a library as an IEL file from within combustion.
The Library menu only shows Emitter Library for combustion (ELC) files. If you copy an IEL file into the Particle Libraries folder as you work in the Particles operator, it is automatically converted to an ELC file, the IEL file is deleted, and this message displays: "The particle libraries folder contains older emitter libraries. They have been updated."
