Arrow Tool
Whether you are working with geometry, selection, or text objects, before you can edit an object, you must select it using the Arrow tool.
To select an object:
- On the Toolbar, click the Arrow tool .
- In the appropriate viewport, click the object.
The object is highlighted with a bounding box, and its name is highlighted in the Timeline list.
Note: To select an object, you can also click the object's name in the Timeline list. For more information on using the Timeline, see Keyframing.
To select several objects at once:
- On the Toolbar, click the Arrow tool .
- Shift-click the objects, or click and drag the cursor around the objects in the viewport. You can combine these two methods, for example, click and drag the cursor around several objects to select them, and then Shift-click additional objects to add them to the selection.
To select objects that are part of a group:
- To select the entire group, click an object.
- To select an individual object, press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Macintosh), and click the object. This is useful for selecting letters in a text object.
To multi-select objects that are part of a group:
- Press the Ctrl+Shift (Windows) or Command+Shift (Macintosh), and click the objects in the viewport.
- Press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Macintosh) and click and drag the cursor around the objects in the viewport.
Selected objects are highlighted by a bounding box and their names are highlighted in the Timeline list.
