Creating a Polygon Selection
Use the Polygon Selection tool to draw simple polygon shape selections, complex Polygon selections, or a combination of the two.
The following example illustrates how to select a simple polygon-shaped object (in this case, the object is a rectangle that has been skewed because of the perspective).
To create a selection for a simple polygon:
- On the Toolbar, click the Polygon Selection tool .
- Move the cursor over the first corner of the polygon.
The cursor turns into a crosshair.
- Click to anchor the first control point, then move the cursor to the next corner.
- Click to anchor the control point.
The control points are joined by a straight line.
- Move to the next corner and click to anchor the control point.
- Anchor a control point to the last corner, then move the cursor back over the first corner. The following cursor appears.
This cursor indicates that by clicking you will close the selection.
- Click to close the selection.
To create a selection for a complex polygon:
- On the Toolbar, click the Polygon Selection tool .
- Move the cursor to where you want to start the selection.
- To create Polygon control points for a curved polygon, click to anchor a control point, and then drag the crosshair to create a curved side of the shape.
Note: You can edit Bezier control points to change the curve of the polygon. For more information, see Editing Object Shapes with Control Points.
- Continue marking control points as needed.
- Move the crosshair back to the first control point, then click to close the Polygon curve selection.
