Using Selection Modifier Objects

Selection modifier objects can be added to the selection operator to modify, activate, or deactivate existing selections. These objects do not appear in the viewport, and are added to the top of the operator in the Workspace panel or Timeline. Some actions create a selection modifier automatically. For example, if you copy and paste the active selection when all objects are deselected, a Remove Selection object is created below the Pasted Image object.

You can also manually add selection modifier objects to control the effect of multilayered selections. There are five menu selection commands available to create them: Invert, Feather, Expand, Contract, and Remove Selection.

All selection modifier objects can be moved to affect different selections in the operator, or deleted entirely.

The different objects are explained in the following sections.
