Adding Text Using a Paint Operator

Similarly to adding a Text operator to a layer, you can add text by applying a Paint operator to the layer. Paint has the same text tools as the Text operator, plus many other tools.

To add text using a Paint operator:
  1. In the Workspace panel (F3), select the layer to which you want to add the Paint operator.
  2. Choose Operators | Paint, or right-click / Ctrl-click and choose Paint.
  3. Note: You can also add a Paint operator to a layer node in the Schematic view.

The Paint operator opens and the Paint Controls panel appears.

  4. Click Text.
  5. The Text controls appear.

  6. To add text, do one of the following:
  7. In the Toolbar (F2), click the Text tool to begin typing.
  8. In the Toolbar (F2), click the Text tool and draw a text box in the viewport.
  9. Note: A text object created in Paint has the same features as a text object created in a Text operator, and can also be used like any other Paint object.
