Transitions Filters

Animate Transitions filters to make one layer gradually disappear over a number of frames and reveal the underlying layers.

To create a transition:
  1. Click the Animate button to enable animation. (When animation is enabled, the button is red.)
  2. Go to the frame where you want the transition to start.
  3. Select the layer that you want to make disappear, (the outgoing layer).
  4. Choose Operators | Transitions, and choose a transition from the menu.
  5. In the Transition controls, adjust the filter parameters, leaving the amount setting at zero.
  6. This is the first keyframe for the transition.

  7. Go to the frame where you want the transition to end, where the outgoing layer completely disappears.
  8. In the Transition controls, set the amount to 100%.
  9. This is the last keyframe for the transition.

  10. Play the clip. Adjust the in-between keyframes if required.
  11. The layer to which you applied the filter gradually disappears, revealing the underlying image.
