Trying Out the Different Color Models
To determine which color model will give the best key, try creating a sample matte for each model. Each model operates independently of the others, except for the key color, which you can lock to one value for all color models. When you switch from one model to another, the values you set are retained, so you can compare the results easily.
To try out different color models:
- Make sure Animate is disabled.
- In the Key controls, select a color model from the Keyer Mode list.
- Click the Key Color picker.
- Do one of the following:
- Click on the image to sample a single color.
- Click and drag the cursor over the area that you want to key out. The key color is set to the average of the pixels that the cursor samples.
Note: By default, the pixel that you sample is used to determine the key color in all the Keyer modes. If you want to sample different pixels in each Keyer mode, disable Lock. When you enable Lock again, the key color in all modes is reset to the key color in the current mode.
All the pixels with the selected color value are keyed out of the front clip.
- In the Output options, click Matte to view the matte.
- Repeat these steps using the other color models, then view each of the resulting mattes to determine which color model gives the best result. Once you have decided on a color model, you can adjust the softness and tolerance ranges.
