Stabilize Filters

The Stabilize 2 Points filter has two X/Y stabilize points to attach tracking data to, whereas the Stabilize 1 Point filter only has one.

To access the Stabilize filters:

The following options are available in the Stabilize filters.

Stabilize Point 1

Sets the point in the image that you want to stabilize.

Stabilize Point 2

Available only in the Stabilize 2 Points filter, this point is used to calculate rotation or scaling.

The role of each of the points in 2-point stabilizing is the same as in 2-point tracking:

Mode

Determines how the image is treated once the shift values are applied.

Select:
To:

Shift

Leave a border.

Fit

Scale the image to fit the original layer size, without changing its aspect ratio (width to height). This can introduce some additional cropping.

Wrap

Wrap the pixels around the opposite side to fill the border. No pixels (and consequently no image information) are lost.

Only available in 1-point stabilizing.

You usually use this with the Invert option so that the wrapped pixels return to their original location after the inversion.

Resize Image

Extends the effect past the edge of the image. This option is available only in Composite operators.

Borders

Determines how the borders are treated in Shift mode. With Fit and Wrap there are no borders and consequently this option would have no use.

Select:
To:

Use Color

Fill the border with color.

Transparent

Create transparent borders.

Border Color

Sets the color of the border when the Border is set to Use Color.

Invert

Inverts the Stabilize effect. It is available only in the Stabilize 1 Point filter.

Position

Enabled for tracking position. It is available only in the Stabilize 2 Points filter.

Scale

Removes unwanted scale changes. It is available only in the Stabilize 2 Points filter.

Rotation

Removes unwanted rotation. It is available only in the Stabilize 2 Points filter.
