Choosing What to Export

Import or export shift or track channels to save data that can be used with any tracking system that imports keyframe data as text files.

Depending on how much information you require, you can export any or all of the following data types.

Tracker Data

The tracking data specifies the X and Y position of the tracker box in relation to the origin point of the image; these are absolute coordinate values. The origin point has coordinates (0,0), and is located at the lower left corner of the image. Note that if the position of the reference box is changed during the analysis, the offset is compensated for and the exported tracking data still shows a continuous Tracker path.

Shift Data

The shift data specifies the difference between the position of the reference box (0,0) and the position of the tracker box in the current frame; these are relative coordinate values. Both the tracking values and the shift values are formatted as follows: frame #: X position, Y position.

Note: Unless you export using the Discreet Tracker Setup choice, the tracking data files are saved to a file with the .ascii extension. The ASCII format of plain text lines and numbers can often be read by other 2D/3D packages. If you want to transfer tracking data to a program that only accepts text files (*.txt), you can use Wordpad (or another word processing software that reads ASCII files and saves text files) to convert the file.
