Linking Audio

You can link audio to a layer in a composite or to any other operator in the workspace.

When you link audio to an operator, it is locked to that operator. If you move the operator (by moving a layer's timebar, for example), the audio moves with it.

When you first import audio using the Browse button in the Audio panel, it is not linked; the audio is global, meaning it plays regardless of what operator you are working with.

If you open or import footage and use the audio track as the audio source, then the audio is linked to that footage.

To link the audio file to an operator:
  1. In the Audio panel, click Link To.
  2. The Operator Picker dialog appears.

  3. Select an operator and click OK. To link to a layer, select the operator below it.
  4. The audio is linked to the selected operator. To see this, look at the Linked To field in the Audio details.

When you move the operator in the Timeline, the audio waveform follows.

To unlink an audio file:
  1. In the Audio panel, click Link To.
  2. The Operator Picker dialog appears.

  3. Click None.
  4. The audio is no longer linked to an operator.
